NEW STATE SYMBOLS OF SERBIA
Belgrade, 19 August 2004 – The motion on using the coat of arms, flag and anthem was passed at the session of the National Parliament of Serbia yesterday. By the vote of 183 MPs, the official national anthem of the Republic of Serbia is the song “God of Justice”, composed by Davorin Jenko on the words by Jovan Djordjevic.
The state flag of Serbia consists of three horizontal fields – red, blue and white – with the small coat of arms of the Kingdom of Serbia in the middle.
The great coat of arms of the Republic of Serbia is the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Serbia from 1882. The double headed white eagle carries a shield on its chest with a holy cross and four fire-steels, and two lilies under the eagle’s claws. Above the eagle is a smaller crown, which together with the eagle makes the small coat of arms, which is framed by a porphyry tent and the great crown.
